The Best Sundowner Spots on the Italian Riviera

BEST SUNDOWNER SPOT IN BOCCADASSE

Relax on the rocky shoreline of this quaint seaside town. You’ll find locals tucking into a cone of Frittura di Paranza (scrumptious fried fish and mixed seafood) and sipping on a generous tumbler of Aperol. The sunset in Boccadasse is not to be missed. The rich allure of terracotta sun and abundance of colourful seaside abodes make this sunset rather unique. The sun usually kisses the horizon around 7pm – but check online to make sure you don’t miss it. Grab a taxi from the centre of Genoa, it’s about a 20-minute ride and absolutely worth it. The spot was recommended by our local guide Paola Terrile; she knows the area better than most having spent her whole life discovering the hidden gems of the Genovese coast.

LA ROTONDA: THE BEST SUNDOWNER SPOT IN CAMOGLI

La Rotonda is the postcard sundowner spot in Camogli. Book around 6pm and enjoy an Aperitivo on the terrace as you watch the burning orange sunset. This place gets packed, so book a table if you want to enjoy dinner as the sun sinks into the ocean. The restaurant is fantastically situated on a pier of rocks and sandy surroundings. The whitewashed décor teamed with cute, Cuban style umbrellas is the most magically setting to watch the sunset. One of the best places in Camogli to enjoy an evening beverage and freshly prepared local cuisine.

WINETROSE WINE BAR: SUNDOWNER SPOT IN PORTOFINO

Situated at the end of the port, the spectacular Aperitivo spot is the best around. The cosy hideaway offers a carefully curated selection of Italian wines and deli-style charcuterie boards. All served with a generous helping of olives and prepared with the finest ingredients, including the famous Felino salami. All the seating is Al Fresco, with a few desirable spots perched on the edge of the port; they’ve been eloquently dressed with pillows and a perch for your wine. Sit back, watch the sunset and dangle your feet over the edge of the pretty port. Booking is highly recommended.
